چکیده

Abstract In this paper, thermo-hydro-mechanically (THM) coupled processes triggered during the construction, operation and closure of a deep geological repository for heat generating, high level radioactive waste are discussed based on generic disposal concept. For purpose, we using numerical non-isothermal two-phase–two-component flow in deformable porous media (TH 2 M) implementation (Grunwald et al. Geomech Geophys Geo-energy Geo-resour, 2022) open-source software OpenGeoSys (Bilke Transport Porous Media 130(1):337–361, 2019, https://doi.org/10.1007/s11242-019-01310-1 ). THM effects covered work focus single two-phase-flow phenomena, gas generation as well poro-elastic medium deformation. A suitable set benchmarks covering aforementioned THM-effects, devised scope BenVaSim benchmarking project (Lux Synthesis report. BenVaSim—International Benchmarking Verification Validation TH2M Simulators with Special Consideration Fluid Dynamical Processes Radioactive Waste Repository Systems. Tech. rep., 2021, https://doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.28998.34887 ) is chosen one additional benchmark presented, allowing demonstration comparison OGS-6 TH M against results obtained by other well-established codes used field. Apart from code comparison, also serve means to analyze very simplified geometries. Therefore, they can help improve process understanding, but any quantitative should not be interpreted predictions behaviour real repository. The agree presented partners BenVaSim—both phasic, fully liquid saturated cases partially two phase regions. Hence, suitability application field management, supporting safety case analyzing integrity geotechnical barrier systems demonstrated. Finally, detailed discussion observed phenomena increases our understanding confidence prediction context disposal.

abstract type-ii fuzzy logic has shown its superiority over traditional fuzzy logic when dealing with uncertainty. type-ii fuzzy logic controllers are however newer and more promising approaches that have been recently applied to various fields due to their significant contribution especially when the noise (as an important instance of uncertainty) emerges. during the design of type- i fuz...

In Search of a Nuclear Waste Disposal Site

The choice of a site for high and intermediate level nuclear waste product material disposal in Jordan requires careful consideration of hydrology, hydrogeology, geological materials, seismicity, climate and other geological factors. The purpose of this paper is to explore how these factors in Jordan may affect the ultimate decision on where to site such a facility. Taking these factors into co...
